Hope For Women in Nigeria Initiative (HOFOWEM)




The scholarship scheme is an annual programme sponsored by HOFOWEM to give opportunities for brilliant indigent students in Lagos State public secondary schools to pursue first degree courses in any Nigerian university.

The recipients of this scholarship will choose courses that will address critical issues in engineering, environment, food security, education, public health and other key areas that will address societal needs.

Shortlisting for the scholarship award for 2017/2018 began on the 15th   of November and ended on the 13th of December, 2017 and after a rigorous screening exercise two candidates were selected for the 2017/2018 scholarship Award.

The scholarship award recipients for the 2017/2018 session are:

  • Victory Agwu
  • Oladunni Akisanmi



Under our Hope for Youth thematic area we are raising entrepreneurs in various vocations by providing the youths with unique opportunities where they can have access to training’s in crafts. In 2018 we trained over 35 youths in various vocations listed below:

  • Cosmetology and Aesthetics
  • Professional Makeup
  • Fashion Designing
  • Embellishment and Bag Making



Ready to beat malaria programme was held in Makoko where over 3000 residents received Long Lasting Insecticide-treated Nets (LLINs) to commemorate the 2018 World Malaria Day.



This is an annual event launched in 2016 to equip pupils in Public Primary Schools across Lagos State with shoes and socks, the 2017 edition equipped over 175,00 primary 1 to 3 pupils.

On the 5th of June 2018, Our Founder, Her Excellency, Mrs Bolanle Ambode flagged off the 2018 Edition at Cherubim and Seraphim Primary School Ikorodu, Lagos. Over 50,000 primary 1 pupils in all public primary schools in Lagos State received the HOFOWEM branded shoes and socks.
