HOFOWEM celebrates the 2017 International Youth Day

HOFOWEM celebrates the 2017 International Youth Day by organizing a two day entrepreneurship training programme on  the 14th  and 15th  of August, 2017.

The aim of the programme is to provide unique opportunities for the youth social and economic upliftment, whereby the latent potentials of the youth will be harnessed by providing openings for growth and personal development in various economic and agricultural areas.

The population of this current generation of youth is the largest in history. Whereas young people who are often the vulnerable in our society majorly contributed by unemployment, therefore, an increase in investment in human capital and opportunities for employment are part of the key actions to realize a demographic dividend due to the large number unemployed youth in the society.

There are over 3 million young people between the ages of 15 and 34 in Lagos State today with varied aspirations to become great entrepreneurs, yet too many of them are trapped in poverty and they have few opportunities to learn or earn a decent living.

HOFOWEM Hope for Youth Entrepreneurship Training Programme was not just an avenue to educate the youth in baking technology, fish production, grasscutter, mushroom, piggery, poultry, snail and vegetable farming and was not to teach the participants how to create wealth for personal development, but more importantly to help create a better community with improved skills, improved behavior, increased self-esteem and self-efficacy.

Empowering youth means creating and supporting the enabling conditions under which they can act on their own behalf, on their own terms and encouraging a sovereign mindset through entrepreneurship training.
